Local-first CSS Inspector · Effective October 28, 2026
Summary: Local-first CSS Inspector processes page content and style information locally in your browser only after you explicitly activate the extension. It does not send inspected page data to the developer or to third parties.

What the extension processes

During an active inspection session, Local-first CSS Inspector may transiently read information from the current page that is necessary to provide the user-facing inspection features, including:

This processing occurs locally in the browser after an explicit user action. The extension does not continuously inspect pages in the background.

What is not collected, transmitted, or retained

The current version has:

Inspection state lives in the current page runtime and is discarded when that document is unloaded. Stopping the inspector removes active page listeners and clears current selection and comparison references. A small packaged runtime may remain in the document so a later user toggle can reactivate without reinjecting the bundle.

Clipboard

Clipboard writes occur only when you explicitly choose a copy action, such as copying a property value, clean CSS, or generated Tailwind classes. The extension does not read clipboard contents.

Permissions

The production extension uses only:

The production extension does not request persistent host permissions, <all_urls>, tabs, storage, cookies, webRequest, debugger, or nativeMessaging.

Remote code

The extension does not download or execute remote JavaScript. Executable code is packaged with the extension.

Data sharing

The extension does not send inspected website data to the developer or to third parties, so there is no third-party sharing of that inspection data by the extension.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information accessed by Local-first CSS Inspector complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Website content and style information is used only to provide or improve the extension's prominently disclosed, user-facing CSS inspection functionality and directly related local outputs. It is not used for advertising, profiling, unrelated analytics, creditworthiness or lending purposes, sale, or transfer to data brokers.

Changes to this policy

If a future version adds telemetry, accounts, cloud sync, external APIs, persistence, or materially different data practices, this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before release.
